About us

🍻Hey. Welcome to Beer & Biriyani. Whether you came here for the biriyani, stayed for the beer, or just wandered in hungry and nostalgic – we saved you a seat.

Beer & Biriyani is a US-based Indian food magazine for people who believe that food is more than just sustenance – it’s memory, identity, rebellion, healing, and sometimes… chaos. We tell stories from the messy middle of cultures, kitchens, and cravings. Our essays explore what it means to eat with your hands in a country obsessed with forks, how microwave rotis became a diaspora ritual, or why your mom’s voice note is more useful than any cookbook.

We’re not just food writers. We’re comedians, scientists, designers, disillusioned engineers, aspiring aunties, spice hoarders, and proud leftover eaters. We ask strange questions like:

  • Why do leftovers taste better on Tuesdays?
  • Is hing emotionally manipulative?
  • Can a samosa be political?
    (Yes.)

What we do:

We publish seasonal “drops” of stories every few months — think Netflix binge, but with more masala. Each season explores a theme and comes loaded with personal essays, spicy nostalgia, useless-but-brilliant guides, audio bits, and the occasional illustrated rant about cumin.

Expect the unexpected: temple meals, college canteens, secret pickle jars, fridge crimes, food taboos, wedding buffet sociology, street food dreams, and a lot of ghee.

Why we exist:

Because Indian food isn’t just trending – it’s lived. And for millions of us, it lives across time zones, WhatsApp voice notes, and grocery aisles in strange zip codes.
We wanted a place to laugh, cry, write, and read about that.

So yeah, welcome to Beer & Biriyani.

We’re not here to impress. We’re here to remember, reflect, and sometimes just sit with the stories that food brings up.
Because behind every spice blend and snack craving, there’s something deeper stirring.

Pull up a plate. We’re glad you’re here.
